Verona beats Vicenza 2-1: Mosquera comes off the bench and turns the derby around in two minutes at the Bentegodi

The Veneto derby is yellow-and-blue. Verona beats Vicenza 2-1 at the Bentegodi in a match marked by tension, dramatic turns and the decisive impact of Mosquera, who came on during the game and managed to settle it with a brace in just two minutes.

First half stalemate

As reported by Corriere di Verona, Hellas start strong with Baroni opting for a 4-3-3, inserting Lella in midfield, Suslov in the attacking trio and Dawidowicz alongside Korac in defence. Gallo's Vicenza respond with a 3-5-2 and the attacking pair Merkaj-Rauti.

On the 4th minute Verona came close to taking the lead with Lella, but were forced into a change at the back: Korac suffered a right knee injury in a challenge with Rauti and came off, replaced by Edmundsson. Vicenza showed themselves on a corner with Marchizza, but the white-and-red side remained orderly and the match ended goalless in the first half.

Vicenza's lead and Mosquera's brace

Baroni opens the second half with a double substitution, bringing on Livramento and Cerbone for Mulattieri and Suslov, with Sarr in central attack. Vicenza had a great chance on the 4th minute with Merkaj, set up by Rauti, but wasted it by shooting high in front of Leali.

It was Rauti himself who broke the deadlock on the 13th minute of the second half, catching the yellow-and-blue defence off guard and putting Vicenza ahead. Baroni reacted with further changes, including the introduction of Mosquera, who pushed Verona into a 4-2-4 formation.

The move proved decisive: from the 29th to the 31st minute Mosquera signed off with a lightning-quick brace. First he coordinated on a corner kick and found the equaliser, then he scored the winning goal with a heel touch on an assist from Livramento. Vicenza tried to react with Marchizza, but his shot went over and Verona took the derby home.
