What data we process and why

• Navigation: technical data (IP address, browser type) processed by our server to deliver the website and ensure its security. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
• Anonymous statistics: we count visits, pages and interactions (news viewed, reads, shares) and where visitors come from (search engine, social, newsletter, etc.), without cookies. To distinguish visitors we use a code that changes every day, calculated from IP address and browser: the IP address is not saved and it is not possible to recognize you from one day to the next. From the same address, always on our server and with a database installed here (DB-IP, CC BY 4.0 license), we only derive the area of origin — country, region and city — which is stored instead of the address: it does not identify a person and is not sent to any external service. Only if you press "Accept" do we use a random code saved in your browser to recognize return visits. Data retained for a maximum of 25 months, never shared with third parties. Legal basis: legitimate interest (aggregate statistics equivalent to technical cookies) and, for return visits, consent.
• Newsletter: email address, time and categories chosen, to send you the daily summary. Legal basis: consent, confirmed via link sent by email (double opt-in).
• WhatsApp notifications: mobile number, frequency and categories, to send you updates. Legal basis: consent, confirmed by you sending the activation message first.
• List quality and statistics: we verify that the email address exists (domain and mail server, without sending messages), we record failed delivery emails and clicks on links in our emails, to avoid writing to non-existent addresses and understand which content is of interest. Legal basis: legitimate interest in proper service management.
• Promotional communications (optional): only if you check the appropriate box, we send you via email offers and events from local activities. Legal basis: specific consent, revocable at any time from the preferences page. We do not share your address with third parties.
• Personalization (only if you accept profiling cookies): count of the categories of articles you read, to order news in newsletter and WhatsApp according to your interests. We do not create profiles for advertising.

Without Registration

There is no need to create an account. Your preferences are linked to a random code saved in a cookie on your device and in the "Manage" links of our communications.

Cookies

• mpn_city, mpn_sub, mpn_consent: technical cookies, used to remember your city, subscription and cookie choices (12 months).
• Browser local storage mpn_interests: count of read categories, used only with your consent.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking tools.

Push notifications and video

If you enable notifications on a topic, your browser provides us with an anonymous technical address so we can send them to you: we keep it together with the cities and topics you have chosen, until you disable them. Videos come from YouTube (Google) and are embedded in "advanced privacy" mode (youtube-nocookie): YouTube receives data only when you start playback.

Providers

Website and data hosting in a data center in the European Union; email sending through our mail provider; WhatsApp messages through Meta Platforms Ireland (WhatsApp Business). Articles are written with the help of artificial intelligence services that do not receive your personal data.

Data retention and rights

We retain your data for as long as you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe or delete everything at any time from the My preferences page, from the link at the bottom of each email, or by sending STOP on WhatsApp. You have the right to access, rectification, deletion, restriction, portability and objection, and you can lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.
