What this is

MP News is a news feed: every hour we gather what the newspapers, agencies and public bodies of each city publish, sort it by city and topic and rewrite it in short form with the help of artificial intelligence, so you can go through it all with your thumb.

It is not an online daily paper and not a registered news outlet: it is a service that saves you the tour of twenty different websites, and that for every story tells you where it comes from and takes you to the original.

Where the news comes from

Only from sources we picked and approved one by one: newspapers, press agencies, public bodies, trade publications. No gossip-only sites, no aggregators, no sites of automatically generated content.

At the bottom of every story you find the sources, linked to the original. The facts belong to whoever gathered them first: we tell them in our own words and send anyone who wants more over to them. An automatic check compares each article with its sources: if a single sentence is still identical to the original, the article is not published and goes to review.

How the articles are written

With the help of artificial intelligence, and with a second automatic check that verifies every stated fact is really in the sources. What does not pass does not go out. Whoever runs the site can correct, suspend or remove any content at any time.

Video, images, music

The videos are ours: synthetic voice, licensed stock footage and photographs, Creative Commons music credited to its author. The images do not portray the people involved in the events. The videos and their captions always say that the voice is synthetic and the footage is stock.

The other languages

The site exists in Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese and Arabic. Italian is the original: the other versions are automatic translations, meant above all for people travelling in Italy. If a translation looks wrong to you, write to us.

What we are not

• We are not a registered news outlet. We neither ask for nor receive public publishing subsidies, and we do not carry out professional journalistic activity.
• We do not sell articles. A business can subscribe to appear next to the stories of its own kind, and its page always carries the "Featured" label: we do not write stories to order, and no payment changes what we report.
• We do not profile anyone who has not asked us to. If you only read, to us you are a code that changes every day. If you subscribe and consent, we keep track of the topics you read and the stories you save — only to choose what to send you. We collect nobody's social media data, we do not cross your data with other sources and we sell it to no one.
• We do not use other people's content without permission. Third-party photos and videos enter our content only with the written authorisation of whoever made them.

Corrections and removals

Anyone named in a story can ask for it to be corrected or removed, with no need to explain why: we act within 48 hours. The same goes for a publisher who does not want to appear among our sources: we take them out.

Statistics and data

We count visits without cookies: a visitor is a code that changes every day and the IP address is never stored. From the address we derive only the area it comes from (country, region, city), on our own server with a database installed here, sending nothing to outside services. The details are in the privacy notice.

If you subscribe

Subscribing takes no account and no password: a code in your browser links you to your preferences. If you leave us an email or a number and consent, we record the cities and topics you pick, a simple count of the topics you read and the stories you save, and the hour you want the newsletter. It serves one purpose: sending you the news you care about instead of all of it.

Under My preferences you can see what we hold, change it, or delete everything in one click: email, number, interests and saved stories really do disappear.
