Massinburg's Buzzer-Beater Seals Tezenis Verona Upset Over Armani Milano 75-72

A three-pointer at the buzzer by Massinburg sent PalaMagis into pandemonium: Tezenis Verona defeated defending Italian champions Armani Milano 75-72, as reported by Corriere di Verona. A victory that L'Arena describes as an "apotheosis" for the newly promoted Scaligera side.

Point-for-Point Battle

In the evening game of Serie A's second round, Verona led for much of the match, closing the first half ahead 44-38. Milano, driven by Guduric and Mathews, attempted to reverse momentum in the second half, but the Scaligera consistently found the resources to stay competitive until the finale decided by Massinburg's three-pointer three seconds before the final buzzer.

By the Numbers

According to Corriere di Verona, coach Ramagli's team grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and forced Milano into 17 turnovers, despite a modest 58% from the free throw line. Tobey, Zampini and Loro were among the yellow-blue protagonists, with 17 points coming from second-chance opportunities.

Tezenis achieved the win with a reduced rotation, due to Brockington's absence caused by a calf issue. The comparison between the two clubs' budgets, reported by Corriere di Verona, tells the story of the upset's magnitude: 6.5 million euros for Verona against 40 million for Milano, who arrived at the game having already played seven official matches across the Supercoppa, league and Euroleague.

PalaMagis had not hosted a Serie A game since May 7, 2023. For Ramagli's men this marks their first points of the season following their opening loss at Tortona. Their next assignment comes away at Scafati, another team still winless along with Trieste and Cantù.
