Reyer wins thriller in Trieste: 87-82 in final moments, orogranata remain unbeaten

The Reyer shows no signs of stopping. In the most challenging away trip, at Trieste, Umana Venezia clinches a crucial 87-82 victory that marks the third consecutive win across Serie A and Eurocup, as reported by Corriere del Veneto and La Nuova Venezia.

A battle of nerves

It was no easy task: Trieste, coming off a strong performance even in Milano, pushed hard bolstered by home court advantage and their American players. After the first quarter ended with the orogranata ahead (15-21), the hosts responded with a furious run led by Jones, Candussi and Ross, even reaching 40-36.

From there the match turned into a long back-and-forth struggle, point for point, with neither team able to break away. According to Corriere del Veneto, decisive was the Reyer's ability to read their offensive plays well in the final minutes: Watson struck the go-ahead basket for 80-83, while Venezia's defense allowed nothing more, closing it out from the free throw line with Bowman.

The stars

In the end five players in double figures for coach Neven Spahjia's squad: Watson with 17 points and a "superlative" Candi with 15, as Corriere del Veneto puts it. Also noteworthy was Grant's performance, who took advantage of the rotation decided by the coaching staff—which rested Jordan Parks—to repay the confidence placed in him.

With this victory the Reyer remains unbeaten in the league and, after two matches, sits atop the standings alongside other teams, confirming itself among the top squads of this season's start.
