Bread in the Square returns to Mestre: two days of artisan bread in piazza Ferretto

Fresh bread aroma in downtown Mestre: Pane in piazza is back, the eighth edition of the event organized by Confcommercio di Mestre together with the Panificatori di Venezia e provincia Association, with the patronage of the Venice City Council as part of "Le Città in Festa".

The stalls are set up in piazza Ferretto, open today September 26 and tomorrow September 27 from 10 am to 7 pm. As reported on the Venice City Council website, master bakers present techniques, recipes and specialties linked to their own regions, for a true journey through the regions of Italy.

Opening and workshops

The official opening was held this afternoon, with the ribbon cutting in the presence of the Social Cohesion Assessor Ermelinda Damiano, who described the initiative as "in the spirit of tradition and home flavors", capable of "bringing together and uniting citizens, families and children".

During the two days there will be entertainment and educational activities: master artisan bakers will prepare and bake bread, pizza and focaccia together with students from the Berna institute. Tomorrow, Sunday September 27, educational workshops return, from 11 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm, while at 11:30 am the Holy Mass with the blessing of bread is scheduled at the Cathedral of San Lorenzo.

An event with a social purpose

The initiative also has a social dimension: the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Associazione Anffas Mestre Onlus, engaged in supporting people with intellectual and relational disabilities.
