Foodish Returns to Piedmont: Barale Takes On Fried Mixed Meats, Giletti on Brasato

Piedmont is back in the spotlight on Foodish, Joe Bastianich's program airing on TV8, Sky and streaming on NOW. As reported by Corriere della Sera - Torino, two stops are scheduled within six days: first Turin, then the Biellese.

September 23: Fried Mixed Meats

On September 23 at 8:30 pm, Bastianich will be joined by Paola Barale, born in Fossano, to judge Piedmontese fried mixed meats. A dish that, the publication explains, has no single version: it changes in ingredients and pieces depending on the territories, families and restaurants, mixing meats, offal, vegetables, sweet semolina and fruit.

September 29: Brasato Takes Center Stage

Six days later, on September 29 at the same time, Massimo Giletti will accompany Bastianich to the Biellese stage, dedicated to brasato. The recordings, the Corriere recalls, were made in May. Here too the challenge hinges on elements that vary from kitchen to kitchen: the cut of meat, the wine, the aromas and cooking times.

How the Competition Works

In each episode, four establishments compete, their names remaining secret until broadcast. The format follows what has been seen in previous editions: Bastianich and the guest of the episode taste the same dish prepared in different versions, assign a score from zero to ten and decide who advances in the competition.

As the Corriere points out, the concept of "Foodish" does not coincide with technical perfection or faithfulness to the traditional recipe: it's about the dish that wins over, the one you'd want to eat again. This is not the first time Turin has appeared on the program: the first season opened right beneath the Mole, with vitello tonnato.
