Dylan Dog Celebrates 40 Years: Turin Horror Night with Chiaverotti and Riccio

Turin is preparing to celebrate the forty years of Dylan Dog. On Friday, September 25th, on the occasion of the "Dylan Dog Horror Night" promoted by Sergio Bonelli Editore together with the Ubik bookstore and the Funside comic book store chain, the city will host one of the events scheduled throughout Italy.

Where and When

The event will take place in the evening at the Funside comic book store at via Antonio Bertola 31, as reported by Repubblica Torino. The date is no coincidence: on September 26, 1986, which was a Friday, "L'alba dei morti viventi," the first issue of the series created by Tiziano Sclavi, appeared in newsstands.

The Guests

Claudio Chiaverotti, a Turin-based screenwriter who for years was one of the most beloved names in the series, will be present in Turin. According to Repubblica Torino, readers consider his stories to be on par with those of Sclavi himself in defining Dylan Dog's psychology and the atmospheres of his surreal world.

He will be joined by illustrator Renato Riccio, born in Alessandria and a graduate of the Asti School of Comics, who has worked on various Bonelli publications such as Zagor, Martin Mystère and Nathan Never. On Dylan Dog he has collaborated graphically with Piero Dall'Agnol, one of the character's historical illustrators; recently his pages have also enriched the graphic novel "Orbit Orbit," written by rapper Caparezza.

The Turin evening is part of a particular memory: on the same date of September 26, but in 2011, Sergio Bonelli died, the publisher and soul of the Milan-based publishing house.
