Free Waterfront Platforms: Manfredi Considers Keeping Them Through Summer

The free platforms installed on Naples' waterfront for the America's Cup pre-regatta could be more than a temporary solution. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi explained this in a Facebook post, opening the possibility of maintaining them during the summer months.

The Mayor's Words

"More space to enjoy the sea," Manfredi wrote, explaining that the structures are set up for the pre-regatta and offer free public access, with special attention to people with disabilities and vulnerable groups.

The mayor added: "We want to look beyond the event, as we do with all the projects we are launching. If this trial works, we will work to ensure the platforms can return during the summer months too, expanding opportunities for access to the sea for Neapolitans and tourists."

A Broader Goal

According to Manfredi, the initiative is part of a larger project concerning the entire city shoreline, "from Bagnoli to east Naples," with the aim of making the sea increasingly accessible and part of the city's daily life.

For now, it is an opening tied to how the ongoing trial during the sailing event turns out.
