Open House Naples, Three Days with Over 150 Free Experiences in Usually Closed Places

Open House Napoli returns from October 2-4, the architecture festival that for its eighth edition brings citizens to discover palaces and buildings usually inaccessible for free. As reported by Repubblica Napoli, the program includes over 150 experiences including guided tours, urban routes, workshops and exhibitions, narrated by more than 600 volunteers.

The novelty: Sconfinamenti in the Phlegraean Fields

This year the festival expands its scope beyond the ten city municipalities with the new Sconfinamenti section, dedicated on Friday, October 2 to the Metropolitan City. The first stop is in the Phlegraean Fields, where 15 free experiences are scheduled between history, nature and architecture.

Among the main proposals are the Colombario del Fusaro and the Grotte del Fusaro in Bacoli, the Archaeological Deposits of Pozzuoli designed by Pier Luigi Nervi (visitable Sunday, October 4) and the urban route dedicated to the ancient layout of the contemporary city. Space is also given to the present and future of the area with the new EAV stations in Baia and Pozzuoli and Villa Letizia in Monte di Procida, designed by the Manuarino studio.

On the nature front, the Literary Park of Nisida, the Quarantine Park, Cerillo Park and the Capo Miseno Lighthouse are scheduled. Sunday, October 4 also includes an archeo-naturistic trekking at the Bosco della Salandra, among chestnut groves and pre-Roman archaeological sites.

The children's village at La Santissima

The OHN Kids section, dedicated to the youngest, moves this year to La Santissima - Community Hub, in the recovered spaces of the former Military Hospital. Among the activities scheduled are workshops curated by Archipicchia! Architettura per Bambini and by Ludobus Artingioco, along with the contribution of students from the Design for the Community course at the DiARC of Federico II University.

Don't miss the exhibition Napoli in Mattoncini by the Brickanti - Mattoncini al Sud association, which reconstructs the city with bricks: from the Maradona Stadium with 24,000 bricks to Piazza Dante with its book stalls.
