Sfera Ebbasta films music video at Leonardo's Last Supper with his son: paid 10,000 euros, CGIL protests

Sfera Ebbasta filmed live, without digital tricks, the music video for his single "Lontano" right in front of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. Corriere della Sera reports that the rapper sent a request to museum director Angelo Crespi, attaching the song lyrics and storyboard: a father visiting the artwork with his son Gabriel and embracing in front of the masterpiece.

The director's approval

Crespi accepted the request: "We liked the intimate text, almost one of redemption," he explained according to Corriere, emphasizing that the museum receives requests of all kinds and does not need publicity to sell tickets, which are always sold out. As per procedure, Sfera Ebbasta paid the Italian State over ten thousand euros for two hours of filming.

The proposal for the outskirts

After filming, the artist proposed to the museum's management a program of special openings dedicated to children, teenagers, and families from Milan's outlying areas, financed through the Art Bonus scheme. Crespi called the initiative consistent with the PNRR's objectives on removing barriers: "It will serve to bring a world-famous work back to the territory," he said, noting that Sfera Ebbasta has a following among young people that museums struggle to reach.

CGIL's backlash

As reported by Il Giorno, the operation sparked criticism from CGIL, which speaks of cultural assets being "diminished."

Chiara Rostagno, executive director of the museum, present during filming with a scientific team, described a simple and intimate atmosphere: music played from a mobile phone, heard only by Sfera Ebbasta and his son, who was drawing during this time. The video, part of the album "Purosangue," alternates images of luxury and Milan's nightlife with the final embrace between father and son beneath the Last Supper. According to Rostagno, within the first three hours of publication, the video had already gathered thousands of views from a young audience that the museum rarely manages to reach.
