Gorgonzola Festival Sets Record with 150,000 Visitors and 20-30% Jump on Opening Day

The 26th edition of the National Gorgonzola DOP Festival closed with record-breaking numbers, reaching peaks of 150,000 visitors according to Il Giorno.

Already on Saturday, the festival's opening day, initial monitoring had recorded a 20-30% increase in attendance compared to the 2025 edition. Detailed participation data, the outlet explains, will be available in a few days.

An Event That Promotes Itself

The festival is now a major event drawing crowds from beyond the local area, supported by intense social media and promotional campaigns. "We don't need to advertise ourselves—this is an event that promotes itself," commented the president of the Pro loco, as reported by Il Giorno. The massive turnout reignited debate on social media about the challenges of large crowds, but there was no shortage of thanks for the organizing Pro loco and the numerous volunteers, described as "extraordinary."

Infiniti Blu: Prize-Winning Cheeses

The festival concluded with the final ceremony of Infiniti Blu, the cheese competition dedicated to blue cheeses born from collaboration between Slow Food Martesana and Onaf, the National Organization of Cheese Tasters. During the event, certificates of excellence for "Superior Quality" and "Quality" were awarded, along with prizes for the best raw milk cheeses, with recognition also going to cheeses from France and Brazil.

The evaluation of samples was entrusted to a panel of 75 Master tasters from Italy, France, Poland, and Romania, who used dedicated software to cross-reference data and parameters to generate the final verdicts. According to the organizers, producers welcomed with interest the detailed report received for each cheese, in an initiative aimed at stimulating quality and showcasing the work of farmers, breeders, and cheesemakers.
