Via XX Settembre Becomes Pedestrian Zone for a Day: Schedules and Diverted Bus Routes

Today via XX Settembre transforms into a large pedestrian and cycling area. As reported by Genova24, from 10am to 7pm piazza De Ferrari and the first section of the street will be closed to traffic: a total of 300 meters free from cars for the initiative "Tutti in via Venti il Venti Settembre", part of European Mobility Week (running from September 16-22) and coordinated with SportCity Day.

In the pedestrian area it will also be possible to try electric bikes from the city's bike sharing operators.

Bus Lines Affected

The closure involves route changes for various public transport lines: 18, 18/, 20, 35, 35/, 36, 37, 39, 40 and Volabus, as well as lines 42, 44 and 46.

In summary, according to Genova24, buses heading westbound that normally transit via XX Settembre are diverted onto via V Dicembre, via Vernazza and via XII Ottobre to piazza Corvetto, where they resume their regular route. Some lines, such as 37, 42, 44 and 46, instead have temporary terminals or stops in piazza Dante or via Ceccardi.

For those traveling eastbound, changes mainly affect lines 20, 35, 35/, 36, 37, 44, 46 and Volabus, diverted onto piazza Dante, via Fieschi and via Ceccardi before returning to the regular route on via XX Settembre.

Anyone needing to take a bus in the downtown area today is therefore advised to check their line's route in advance, given the high number of variations in a very busy area of the city center.
