Autumn Harvest Festivals Near Florence: Tortelli, Mushrooms, Truffles and Giant Pumpkins This Weekend

Autumn brings festivals and celebrations throughout the Florence area, featuring mushrooms, truffles, tortelli and local products. Here's where to go this weekend, according to La Nazione Firenze.

Porcini Mushrooms and Tortelli between Pontassieve and Scarperia

At Pontassieve, at the municipal stadium, the Sagra del fungo porcino e del tortello (Porcini Mushroom and Tortelli Festival) takes place, with grilled meat, bardiccio and traditional dishes. The stalls open today and tomorrow, and the event repeats over the weekend of October 2-4: Friday dinner only, Saturday and Sunday lunch and dinner.

In Scarperia, the Circolo Mcl hosts the 42nd Sagra del tortello (Tortelli Festival), dedicated to Mugello cuisine and seasonal porcini mushrooms. Dining tonight and tomorrow from 7 p.m., with lunch service also on Sunday from noon.

Truffle, Raviolata and Wine

At the Arci circolo del Girone, the 42nd Festa del volontariato and Sagra del tartufo (Volunteer Festival and Truffle Festival) closes today and tomorrow, promoted by the Croce Azzurra of Girone and Pontassieve: the menu features truffle specialties, from beef tartare to tortelli, with dinner in two seatings (7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.).

In Pelago, at piazza Ghiberti, La Raviolata returns to the Casa del Popolo, featuring local products: dinner in two seatings today, lunch and dinner tomorrow. The initiative, organized by the Croce Azzurra of Pelago, raises funds for a new ambulance.

In Montefioralle, a splendid medieval village, Montefioralle Divino takes place: at piazza Santo Stefano you can meet producers and taste Chianti Classico from different vintages, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with glasses available for purchase at the entrance.

Grapes and Giant Pumpkins

Tomorrow in Impruneta, at piazza Buondelmonti, the Festa dell'uva (Grape Festival) concludes.

In Campi Bisenzio, in the park of Villa Montalvo, from today through November 1st, every weekend, Regno delle Zucche e della Paglia (Kingdom of Pumpkins and Straw) returns, featuring artistic sculptures made with pumpkins and, this year's novelty, also with straw.
