Carr's 16 Points in Final Quarter Leads Virtus Bologna Past Maxima Roma, 98-89

PalaDozza smiles again, after the Euroleague night. This time it's the league, but the finish is equally spectacular: Virtus Bologna beats Maxima Roma 98-89, suffering more than expected before finding the decisive spark.

Carr settles it, scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter and finishing as the game's best player: according to Corriere di Bologna, he closed with a +26 plus/minus. Hackett's minutes off the bench were also valuable, along with flashes from Frazier (16 points) and Klintman (15).

A game balanced until the end

Virtus starts strong, reaching up to +11, but in the second quarter collapses badly from three-point range (2/13) and allows a comeback, going into halftime down 37-42. In the second half the bianconeri find the lead with Klintman, but Bologna's defense allows a heavy 0-10 run to Maxima, which goes back ahead and even touches +11 in the fourth period, prompting coach Mumbru to call timeout.

That's when Virtus finds the energy for the decisive comeback: a three from Hackett, two baskets from Carr and five consecutive points from Klintman bring the game to 82-82. From that point on, Carr takes the team on his shoulders, leading it to the final victory.

Virtus also clearly won the rebound battle, 40-33, as reported by Corriere di Bologna.

A double road trip ahead

For the bianconeri, a demanding week opens with two consecutive away games: Thursday's Euroleague matchup against Bayern Munich, then Sunday league play takes Bologna's squad to Venice.
