Seven outdoor dining spots to discover in Bologna, from the center to off-the-beaten-path streets

September in Bologna still brings mild evenings, perfect for dining or having an aperitivo outdoors. As Resto del Carlino reports, the city's most beautiful outdoor seating areas are not found only in the quadrilateral: there is an entire map of hidden corners to discover, among medieval courtyards, alleys of the Jewish ghetto and less central streets.

In the heart of the historic center

At vicolo Colombina 5/b, a stone's throw from San Petronio, Trattoria Colombina by Massimiliano Poggi and Marco Canelli offers Emilian cuisine faithful to tradition, with tortellini in capon broth and white lasagna with ragù.

At Corte Galluzzi 5/a, Da Me nella Torre trattoria offers outdoor seating in the shade of a medieval tower, with tortellini and tagliatelle but also more creative dishes such as red beet ravioli.

Between the Jewish ghetto and via Battibecco

At via Valdonica 5, at the corner with vicolo Luretta, you will find Camera a Sud, a historic wine bar with kitchen founded in 2009, a reference point for wine lovers in the city.

At via Battibecco 4c, Botanica Lab offers an intimate outdoor area dedicated to plant-based cuisine, with dishes such as seasonal soup or potato millefeuille fillet.

Among alleys and side streets

At via Augusto Righi 15a, Trattoria La Montanara, run by innkeeper and writer Filippo Venturi, preserves the flavors of Bologna of yesteryear with tortellini in broth and tagliatelle with ragù, in an outdoor area lit by festive lights.

At via Mentana 10a since 1988, the Chinese restaurant La Rosa offers a characteristic outdoor area overlooking the passage towards via delle Moline, with a traditional menu ranging from spring rolls to chicken with almonds.

Finally, at via Marsala 13d, Marsalino has been a reference point for Bologna's aperitivo since the Nineties, with an evening outdoor area animated by wines by the glass and fresh pasta.
