Milan beats Virtus 87-85: Hall decides on the buzzer, extremely high tension on court

Eurolega's European derby ends in the worst possible way for Virtus Bologna, defeated 87-85 by Armani Milan at the Forum by a Devon Hall basket at the final buzzer.

As reported by ANSA, the American guard signed the decisive shot with a left-handed jump shot, giving Olimpia their first Eurolega win of the season after the loss against Partizan. For Bologna remains the bitterness of staying at zero wins in the competition, without finding revenge after the defeat suffered in the Supercoppa against the same opponents.

A match on edge

According to ANSA's reconstruction, tension was high throughout the match. Already in the first half Hackett and Matthews were sanctioned with a double technical after facing each other head-to-head, an episode also covered by Sky Sport. Tempers also flared in the stands, with two fans coming to blows, while a child wearing a Teodosic jersey reportedly burst into tears from fear, again according to ANSA.

The tight finish

Milan had reached +15 (41-26), but Virtus reacted by closing to -4 at the half (45-41). In the second half the match remained in perfect balance, with Bologna able to find the lead at 66-67. In the tight final Diarra, author of 15 points and 7 rebounds, tied it at 4'' from the end making overtime seem likely. Instead Milan's last seven points are signed by Hall, who closed things out with the decisive basket.

After the match, reports ANSA, the players were separated and Diarra left the court making a middle finger gesture at the fans.
