Fortitudo gets off to a good start: comeback win 92-70 over Ruvo di Puglia at PalaDozza

A good start for Fortitudo, which at PalaDozza defeats Ruvo di Puglia 92-70 in front of approximately five thousand fans, as reported by Corriere di Bologna.

It was not an easy start: coach Cavina's team got off to a terrible beginning, conceding a 15-2 run in less than five minutes and finishing the first quarter down 16-25. The visiting Puglian side maintained an excellent three-point shooting pace, while the biancoblù struggled to find order on the court.

The comeback before halftime

The turning point came in a matter of minutes, with an eleven-point run that energized the arena and put Fortitudo ahead for the first time, after the initial 2-0. The first half closed evenly matched, with the Effe up by a narrow margin at 40-39.

In the second half the show of Radonjic and Mazzola

In the third quarter Morris's hands heated up, but the biancoblù's defensive solidity dropped, troubled by Ruvo's men in the paint. Radonjic stepped up to respond, among the best along with Moretti, Mazzola and Anumba according to Corriere di Bologna, with a long-range basket after a period of drought, followed shortly after by a rising Anumba: a 10-0 run closed the third quarter at 62-51.

In the final period Fortitudo ran away, with Mazzola the protagonist of three consecutive three-pointers that extinguished any Puglian comeback hopes. Playing time also went to younger players Campomori and Korlatovic, with the final score set at 92-70.

Contributing a hand during difficult moments were bench players Fantinelli and Moretti. For Ruvo di Puglia, the performances of Johnson and Chinellato are worth noting. Fortitudo will return to action in seven days, away at Caserta.
